DISTRIBUTED RESILIENCE: HR’s Role When Volatility Meets the Archipelago

Time: 9.00am-5.00pm
Trainer: Joanne Flinn
Thinkers50 Radar 2026 | Former PwC Country Head | Author, Greensight | Chairperson, ESG Institute (B Corp)

WORKSHOP AGENDA

08.30am
Registration & Networking
09.00am
Session 1: The Convergence You’re Already Managing
Your workforce didn’t wait for a strategy. They’re already using AI. This session names what’s actually converging — and why frameworks built elsewhere break here.
  • Why frameworks built for contracted, centralised workforces fail in Indonesia’s reality
  • The volatility stack: Hormuz shock + energy dependence + rupiah pressure — your people feel it first
  • What your workforce’s AI adoption tells you about where trust and capability actually live
10.30am
Morning Tea Break
10.45am
Session 2: The Three Resilience Layers
Resilience isn’t one thing. It operates at three levels — and HR owns different parts of each. This session introduces a framework calibrated for consensus cultures and archipelago realities.
  • Operational continuity: what keeps running when context shifts — and what breaks first across distance
  • Workforce adaptability: building capability that travels across infrastructure gaps and employment structures
  • Strategic optionality: how HR creates choices for leadership when the economy removes them
12.30pm
Networking Lunch
1.30pm
Session 3: Building Connection at Scale
You cannot be in every room. Your managers cannot be on every island. Connection doesn’t require presence — it requires architecture.
  • The signals that travel: what actually reaches your distributed workforce — and what gets lost
  • Building capability across distance: what works without reliable connectivity or formal employment structures
  • AI as connector or fragmenter: how deployment choices either bridge the archipelago or widen gaps
3.00pm
Afternoon Tea Break
3.30pm
Session 4: Your Distributed Resilience Plan
Resilience in Indonesia isn’t about weathering storms from a strong centre. It’s about strength that’s distributed by design. This session makes that actionable.
  • Five distributed resilience indicators: visibility, connectivity, adaptability, trust, and leadership reach
  • The governance gap: what Indonesia’s evolving AI regulation means for decisions you’re making now
  • Your 100-day plan: one resilience layer to strengthen, one connection to build, one CEO conversation about what HR sees
  • You leave with: a distributed resilience scorecard, a connection architecture, and a 100-day plan built on your reality — not a framework designed for somewhere else

Joanne Flinn

Chairperson – The ESG Institute
Bio

Most AI-and-workforce conversations are led by people who’ve never sat at an executive committee table nor on the board of directors.

Joanne has. As Country Head of Financial Services Consulting at PwC Thailand, as Head of Change on the IT ExCo at DBS and now as a Senior Accredited Director, she’s spent 35 years in the room where transformation budgets get approved, talent strategies get challenged, and boards ask “what’s this actually going to cost us?” and “what will we get for this investment?”

Her ClearSight research across 20 Asian exchanges tracks the gap between what organisations report and what they’re actually ready to deliver. And the human dimension — discretionary effort, adaptability, institutional judgment — is the piece no dashboard captures and no AI replaces.

Her sense of humor spices up her masterclasses… A day with Joanne connects what your board, your CFO, and your people strategy need — together, not in silos.

Author of Greensight. Currently writing ClearSight: The Director’s Guide to Long-Term Value.
